Looked good.

Why did it bring tears to my eyes when Nita heard it? Gee.

Oh, well, can't see the video (dialup connection here). But, taking from your reactions...Nita saw the light, huh? (IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Good for her!!!

Ok guys, I have uploaded the QT clip of that Good Morning America "A New World of Sound" but be warned, it does not have audio but is open captioned. (I taped it as closed captioned but transfer from vcr to iMovie via TeleCaption's open caption output make it "open caption" the unzipped QT is about 72mb and the zipped file of QT is about 46mb

here you go: http://deafonline2.com/boult/qtclips/

Yes, you need QuickTime installed: get it at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ It is worth the download though. You do not have to fill out the form unless you want to recieve a e-newsletter from Apple.

UPDATE: (6/7/2006)
"A New World of Sound" recorded on videotape from ABC's Good Morning America on April 29, 2003 and transferred to Quicktime and open captioned. Best viewed in full screen to be able to read the caption.

Or click this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDzaMKhTWho to go there to view the video on YouTube website for full size capability.

By the way, Chief, I think it's fair that DOL'ers be warned it's a rather hefty file download, so don't attempt to do it w/dialup. (I'm still downloading here at the office w/ADSL after 10 minutes).

That was pretty good....amazing! Just finished watching it.

Goes to show you that everyone has the capacity to change. Except for perhaps the SpinNoter. (IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

The little girl was obviously very delighted with her CI!

Who says I am a fan of cable tv??? (IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif)
Let's put it this way...when I purchased my first home in 1990 cable wasn't even in my area. In 1991 when it became available I paid $17.42 a month for all channels except the movies. It is now 2004 and my cable rate is $49.86 per month, a change of nearly 200% in 13 years...now if I could figure out how to do that with my paycheck, I wouldn't b***h!!!

The only reason I keep cable rather than the dish is because I can have unlimited tv's hooked up to cable for the smae price but with the dish you pay for every extra hookup (right there in the fine print...doesn't cost for the hookup, per say, but it does cost a monthly maintenance fee of $5 bucks a month per tv after the first!). Oh, and I get a 12 per month savings on the cable modem! (IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif)

Nope...that's my fee for basic (expanded cable) I have no pay channels!

I should add that if I didn't live out in the sticks and could get local channels, I wouldn't pay for cable, but I can't get any channels without it!

Wow.... mine went up from $13 in 1995 to $17 in 2003 - when I cut off cable. I was always out of my place so I never really had the time to watch cable. However, I can get local channels using antenna.

Linden, Is that your post you posted over at bottom at: http://www.thirteen.org/ubb/Forum84/HTML/000002-3.html ??

if so, here's the url: http://www.freewebs.com/daw/artinian.htm

so you are right one is HOH and yes of course can't get CI till become severe to profound deaf later on. but it depends.. So far we all know that:

Deaf Peter's Sister got CI

Hearing Peter's son, Deaf Peter got CI and his twin brother is hearing.

Heather and Timothy (Tommy) got CI

then Nita got implanted.

I was told that Deaf Peter's Sister that has CI, all of her deaf kids got them as well.

I still have no answer to why they moved back to LI and I can't find the reason but my guts tells me that they might got flacks from Maryland Deaf Community. So they reunited with their family in LI and.

Now for Deaf Peter, he still refuse to have one at all.. ever!

What make them to have one, you all saw that in "New World of Sound" that Nita stated the reason.

I can't cite the source at this late/early? hour (somewhat brain dead here) but my understanding was that Adult Peter was living apart from the family hoping for a transfer to Maryland but that it did not seem to be coming any time soon, and they did not want to remain separated, so moved back to Long Island.
