There are many different resources available for a person who is searching for information regarding deafness and hearing loss.

What would you recommend to read if a person wanted to educated themselves about the diversity and difference in the deaf world?

Does anyone have an actual list with the titles of the books?( I'm not that organized)*blush*

I think that may help make the library or Chapters bookstore search less daunting.(IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I was disappointed when I read "For Hearing People Only" because I felt that the explanations did not make sense to me. So, I was very happy when this new book came out a few years ago.

The book, which made a lot more sense to me, is "Between the Signs" with lots of contributors, including Dr. Thomas Holcomb (his father was Roy Holcomb). Roy Holcomb came up with the idea of Total Communication.

The book, "Between the Signs" goes the extra mile in terms of explaining the cultural differences between the hearing world and the culturally deaf world.

There is a great chapter about the working world. I give this book 5 stars.

Of course "For Hearing People Only" is written by MSMoore.. and would not make sense to us (IMG:http://www.deafonline2.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think my wife, at the insistence of her local college or something actually picked it up a LONG time ago (before she met me). I need to go dig that book up and look at it again.

PDF version anyone? :-)
Wink.

Brenden

P.S. Holcomb -- maybe I should get that book since I was put through the TC method.

Taz,

Please let me know what you and your wife think of Holcomb's book, Between the Signs..." It has many contributors, including Tom Holcomb.
